Health psychology has numerous areas of application and requires consideration of the complexity of individuals, groups, organizations, and communities. Moreover, the continuous changes in our society and social contexts demand constant adaptation and progress.
The symposium aims to discuss the strengths, limitations, challenges, and future directions of health psychology. It will involve several international scientific societies related to health psychology and its applications, with the goal of comparing different perspectives and approaches.
The symposium will feature:
- The International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE), an intersectoral society focused on health promotion, individuals and communities empowerment and health equity;
- The European Network for Positive Psychology (ENPP), a European non-profit organization committed to sharing knowledge and research on positive psychology and improving wellbeing;
- The Practical Health Psychology (PHP), a blog affiliated with the European Health Psychology Society dedicated to sharing the latest health psychology research and how to apply it in real-world practice. Its mission is to translate high-quality health psychology research into clear, actionable insights for healthcare professionals, public health workers, and intervention designers;
- The International Association of Applied Psychology - Division Health Psychology (IAAP 8) aimed at connecting health psychologists around the world. It is currently the second largest division of IAAP, our members come from all parts of the world.
The discussion will help identify future directions for both researches and practitioners. It will also provide an opportunity to integrate diverse perspectives within health psychology and foster connections among international societies in this field.
