Widening inequalities undermine well-being of people across nations.
More than ever before, today it has become pertinent for all societies
and nations that inequality related issues need to be addressed on a
priority basis. Wellbeing of people can be ensured only if issues of
economic inequality, deprivations, discrimination, prejudice, conflict
and climate and sustainability related issues are adequately addressed
as such issues tend to exacerbate the consequences of inequalities.
Despite various attempts to address these issues in nations being made,
the issue of inequality still persists impacting people's lives, their
growth , health and wellbeing and creating a context which allows
individuals and groups to flourish. It is important to understand the
complex nature of inequality and the ways in which ethnicity, gender and
socioeconomic class, geographical location interact across various
nations and societies. This symposium will discuss the psychological and
social consequences of inequalities in various contexts and focus on
developing a broad and holistic framework for understanding widening
nature of inequalities and their amelioration.
