Global challenges require unified, global responses. The Global Psychology Alliance (GPA) is an innovative, nimble coalition, bringing together more than 80 national, regional and international psychological associations, scientific institutions, non-profit organizations and training programs from every continent. The GPA mission is to utilize psychological science to actively address global issues too big for any one association to tackle alone. Bringing together experiences, knowledge, and perspectives from every region of the globe enhances our collective ability to apply psychological science to effectively address societal issues. This session will provide an overview of the GPA organizational structure and horizontal philosophy of leadership, explaining how these foundations enable the Alliance to have current and future impact through (1) a global mentorship program, (2) United Nations advocacy, (3) democratically-selected content-focused working groups on the psychological components of climate change & sustainability, AI & digitalization, mental health & wellbeing, and marginalization & vulnerability. The final speaker will present a future-oriented summary of the GPA's roadmap of projects and activities moving forward. Through these varied approaches, panelists will explain how the Alliance applies psychology to drive positive societal change around the world, aligned with both the mission of IAAP and the aims of ICAP.
