Workplaces across Europe are undergoing profound transformations driven by digitalisation, climate change, demographic ageing, and the integration of artificial intelligence. These shifts create both opportunities and risks for employees' health and well-being, demanding innovative, evidence-based responses. The WISEWORK-C Cluster, which unites five Horizon Europe projects, offers a unique platform to understand how workplaces can be redesigned to become healthier, more inclusive, and sustainable.
The novelty of this symposium lies in its multi-dimensional, cross-sectoral approach. Rather than focusing on isolated risks, WISEWORK-C explores how organisations can proactively foster resilience while addressing societal megatrends. This makes the symposium highly pertinent to ICAP, as it highlights psychology's role in shaping future-ready workplaces across Europe and beyond.
Each presentation will bring a complementary perspective:
● WAge tackles the challenges of an ageing workforce by developing the WAge Index and applying the HERO model to promote health across life stages.
● INTERCAMBIO investigates how climate change and the green transition affect work, combining biomonitoring, surveys, and co-creation to design preventive interventions.
● EU-CoWork addresses end-of-life situations at work, proposing Compassionate Workplace Programmes to foster inclusion and organisational support.
By presenting these diverse but interconnected projects, the symposium will provide an integrative view of psychosocial measures and interventions for healthier and more resilient organisations.
The session will conclude with reflections from Professor José María Peiró, Emeritus Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Valencia, who will serve as discussant.
