Invited Symposium RELATIONSHIPS AND HEALTH
Wednesday 22 July 17:15 - 18:45
Hall: 05 - Ottagonale

Chair and Presenter: Chi Peilian

Division: Division 8: Health Psychology

This symposium will discuss the bidirectional relationship between interpersonal relationships and
health outcomes. Researchers from China, the United States, and the Netherlands will contribute to the
symposium by presenting research on how relationship function is related to a wide array of health
outcomes (e.g., sleep quality, depressive symptoms, complex posttraumatic stress symptoms, immune
function, and physical health) and their underlying mechanisms. By including researchers from different
countries, the symposium will offer a broad range of cultural perspective to identify universal versus
cultural-specific mechanism, providing insights for developing culturally targeted interventions to improve
individual health through strengthening relationships.
