All people around the world use digital devices for work or relaxation daily, and more than all youth are constantly involved in the digital environment and cyberspace through the use of devices for all their activities. Although we live and interact in the digital world in a similar way to the offline world, we're not always as mindful of our actions online.
Digital media provide unique opportunities for everyone to get involved, to speak out and to make change through our actions. So, if on one hand digital environment can contribute to accomplish some behavioral achievement, cognitive development, identity formation, through the access to information and educational resources (Geith & Vignare, 2008), on the other also might expose to risks such as cyberbullying, excessive screen time, privacy concerns etc..
To promote and support a responsible and ethical digital citizenship (Jones & Mitchell, 2016; Kim & Choi, 2018), encouraging a balanced technology use (Rapanta et al., 2021) some educational approaches are essential, starting from school-based educational programs, moving to the development of digital educational platforms, pass through fostering digital literacy.
