The uncertainty and instability that characterise current life contexts make it essential in career counselling interventions to develop positive resources that enable clients to adapt actively to this unpredictable environment. One of the goals of career counselling is to understand how to promote the well-being of individuals facing the unforeseen challenges of the changing world of work. The processes of defining and redefining one's personal and professional projects develop through a continuous search for meaning in one's life, socio-cultural context, and the dynamic relationship between person, context, and time. Life design (Savickas, 2012; Savickas et al., 2009) is a nonlinear process that takes the form of a flexible plan of action, open to the opportunities offered by the context, where people can make unexpected discoveries that are integrated into a plan that allows them to provoke or utilise those discoveries. This involves: (1) empowering individuals and strengthening positive psychological resources, such as self-efficacy, optimism, resilience, courage, and hope; (2) building positive and supportive relationships as fundamental to well-being within educational and workplace settings. In fact, the most recent literature on well-being highlights its multidimensional and systemic nature, considering both personal and contextual factors. Career transitions are periods of life involving decisions, changes, uncertainty, and insecurity, which may threaten individuals' subjective well-being. The symposium will present research on psychosocial resources and career development training and programmes—conducted across diverse cultural contexts and with various participant groups—aimed at enhancing subjective well-being and identifying its protective factors.
