Abstract:
The Scientific Office at Tigem, led by Dr Graciana Diez-Roux, works alongside the researchers supporting their work at basic, translation and clinical levels of biomedical discovery. The key roles of the TSO are to facilitate the Institute's biomedical research and to maintain an environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and scientific achievement. TSO main activities include Scouting, Grant and Project Management, where it acts as liaison between researchers and sponsoring agencies and assists the researchers in providing administrative and managerial skills to facilitate access to funding sources. It also manages European Commission and National Programs that TIGEM coordinates or in which it is involved. The TSO helps in managing 3 PhD Training Programs and supports students from an administrative point of view facilitating the relationship with the University and scientifically, supporting them in preparing their periodical reports and presentations. An additional key role of the TSO is to work alongside the Telethon Alliance, Management and Regulatory Affairs office to assist and guide research scientists in the regulatory processes required to bring innovative therapeutic products and strategies developed at TIGEM from bench to bedside. Moreover, the TSO collaborate with the Telethon Technology Transfer and the Business Development Office to enable innovative research partnerships and negotiates sponsored and collaborative contracts with industry. The TSO has also an important role in the Communication since it publicizes news and updates regarding the Institute's activities and progress through internal and external communications and it also organises, advertises, and ensures the smooth running of all TIGEM seminars and data clubs as well as scientific and awareness events.
