School burnout is one of the major problems among university adolescents worldwide including an Africa country like Nigeria. Many psychosocial problems have been associated with the menace of school burnout. Research efforts have been geared toward factors that can influence school burnout, never the less, little attention have been done on the roles that academic resilience and financial strain may have on school burnout among university adolescents. Based on this premise, the study examines the roles of academic resilience and financial strain on school burnout among university adolescents in Ilorin, Nigeria. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey research design and a convenient sampling technique was used to recruit 212 respondents (mean age = 20.97, σ = 2.15) who responded to a validated questionnaire namely academic resilience, financial strain and school burnout. Data analysis (descriptive and inferential) was performed using SPSS version 24. The study revealed that financial strain has a positive prediction on school burnout among university adolescents. The study also revealed that academic resilience negatively predicts school burnout among university adolescents. The study therefore concluded that financial strain negatively affects school burnout. Also, academic resilience help reduce school burnout among university students. The study recommends that psychological interventions aimed at reducing financial burden and strategy that can improve academic resilience among university students should be tailoured.
