56 - EMOTIONAL STATUS OF RESIDENT PHYSICIANS IN ILOILO MISSION HOSPITAL DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Objective: To determine the Emotional Status of Depression, Anxiety and Stress Among Resident Physicians in Iloilo Mission Hospital during Covid-19 Pandemic.

Design: This is a descriptive, quantitative cross-sectional, non-purposive, randomized study. The researcher used the DASS-21 questionnaire. This described the Emotional Status of Depression, Anxiety and Stress among resident physicians in Iloilo Mission Hospital during Covid-19 Pandemic.

Setting: This study was conducted at Iloilo Mission Hospital from September 2020 to November 2021.

Participants/Respondents: Sixty-five resident physicians at Iloilo Mission Hospital were randomly selected as respondents using the Slovin's formula.

Main Outcome Measure(s): The study focused on assessing the emotional status concerning depression, anxiety, and stress among resident physicians at Iloilo Mission Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research included a secondary outcome that compared emotional states among the physicians during this period, as well as a tertiary outcome that evaluated their emotional status in relation to personal and hospital-related information.

Results: Based on their Socio-Demographic Profiles, majority were females (64.6%), age group between 29-31 years old (40%), single (83.1%) and without a child/ren (84.6%). If categorized based on their Hospital Related Factors, majority were in their 1st Year in training (35.4%), taking Internal Medicine (43.1%), had been assigned to both covid and non-covid areas (55.4%), had experienced being isolated/quarantined (58.5%) and had no history of covid-19 infection (80%). The study also revealed that there was significant difference between the specialization and the level of severity for stress with a p=0.049 and history of Covid-19 infection and the level of severity for anxiety with p-value= 0.03.

Conclusions: The result of the study, when taken as a whole revealed that most of the respondents are in normal level of depression and stress with mean scores of 9.60 and 12.22 respectively while in moderate level of anxiety with a mean score of 10.33.
