Abstract text:
This scoping review synthesizes evidence on the relationship between prosocial behavior at work and career sustainability. In accordance with PRISMA guidelines, a comprehensive search will be conducted across multiple databases. Records will be screened against predefined eligibility criteria, and studies with diverse designs will be considered. The review will map how career sustainability is conceptualized and operationalized and summarize proposed mechanisms linking workplace prosociality to sustainability-related career outcomes. Key gaps to be examined include variability in definitions and measures, a predominance of cross-sectional designs limiting causal inference, and underexamined contextual and cross-cultural influences. Findings will be organized using the "fourth paradigm" perspective of sustainable development, and a fourth-paradigm, informed framework will be proposed to guide future research and organizational practice.
