4792 - Presidential Perspectives Roundtable (IAAP, IUPsyS). Psychology's Role in an Uncertain World: Strategic Leadership for a Sustainable World

Session: 4792 - PRESIDENTIAL PERSPECTIVES ROUNDTABLE (IAAP, IUPSYS). PSYCHOLOGY'S ROLE IN AN UNCERTAIN WORLD: STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORLD
Abstract text:
This roundtable is conceived as a strategic leadership dialogue on how international psychological organizations themselves are responding, at the level of governance, advocacy, and institutional strategy, to increasing global uncertainty. This roundtable asks: How are international psychology organizations redefining their roles, priorities, and modes of action in an increasingly fragmented, unstable world?

Focus: A forward-looking exchange among senior representatives of international psychological organizations, building on the Prague Presidents' Panel. The emphasis is on:
•   Leadership under conditions of geopolitical tension, environmental crisis, fast technological change, and threats to democratic ideals
•   The unique contribution of applied psychology to sustainability, social cohesion, and global problem-solving
•   How international organizations can preserve global perspectives while respecting regional diversity and local realities
Guiding Questions
•   What new responsibilities do international psychology organizations face in a world marked by geopolitical instability, climate risk, and rapid technological change?
•   How can applied psychology contribute concretely to a more sustainable, peaceful, and equitable world - beyond statements and declarations?
•   How can international organizations maintain a genuinely global perspective while avoiding one-size-fits-all solutions?
•   What strategic shifts are needed in the next decade for psychology to remain socially relevant and globally credible?
