Abstract text:
Crossover refers to the dyadic, inter-individual transmission of psychological states and experiences and represents a central mechanism of resource exchange within close relationships, teams, and organizations (Westman, 2001). Crossover may occur through three primary processes: direct crossover via empathy, indirect crossover through interpersonal interaction, and spurious crossover resulting from shared stressors. While prior research has primarily focused on the crossover of strain, increasing evidence suggests that psychological resources can also cross over between individuals, contributing to enhanced well-being and functioning.
The study aims to provide a comprehensive state-of-the-art review of the literature on crossover of resources. Specifically, the review addresses three guiding questions: (a) what mechanisms facilitate the crossover of resources, (b) whether the intensity of crossover differs across various resources, and (c) how crossover processes can be enhanced through interventions. Psychological resources include support, control, self-efficacy, self-esteem, and resilience.
The review was conducted in two stages. First, a systematic literature review identified empirical studies documenting the crossover of resources across different relational contexts. Two independent researchers searched and screened studies retrieved from major academic databases, Second, a targeted review of intervention and training studies designed to enhance psychological resources was conducted, focusing on their implementation characteristics and outcomes.
*Findings from both stages are integrated to propose a theoretical model outlining the key mechanisms that support resource crossover leading to resource caravans. This model offers a conceptual framework for future empirical research and informs the development of interventions to foster positive crossover processes in both family and organizational settings. Theory-based interventions at all levels of the organization will increase the implementation of crossover of resources in the organization, leading to higher satisfaction among employees, gaining new resources, and higher productivity of the organization.

*We are still analyzing the data and hope to finalize the process in about 6 weeks.
