Abstract text:
Many studies highlight how executive function precursors begin to emerge in the second
half of the first year of life, with rapid development during the first three years, and
predictive associations with future behaviors (Hendry et al., 2016; Mulder et al., 2014).
However, tools for the early assessment of these processes, particularly in clinical
settings, remain limited.
In this study, we introduce a scale for the direct assessment of executive functions and
self-regulation, designed for children between 18 and 36 months of age, both with typical
and atypical development. The tool consists of 14 stimulus situations and a free-play
session, accompanied by an integrated quantitative and qualitative coding system, as well
as an observer-completed questionnaire.
Data collected from a sample of typically developing children will be presented,
analyzing the structure of the scale and highlighting correlations with various aspects of
daily functioning.
