Abstract text:
The values and moral orientation of community psychology not
only define the ethical quality of professional behaviour (Vital,
2017). Above all, it also determines the selection of the subject area
(Prilleltensky, 2001). The aim is to enable a humane collective life
(including well-being, equality, participation, cohesion). In addition
to direct influence with regard to these goals (e.g. by maintaining
relationships; reducing inequality), there are also opportunities to
change values and moral standards in communities and social
structures (e.g. among stakeholders). In order to justify this possible
approach, this overview provides conceptual and empirical answers
to the following questions:
1. what is the relationship between community psychological
values in the context of general value and moral psychology
(e.g. in the typology of Schwartz, 1992; Graham et al. 2012)
2. what empirical relationship exists between value and moral
orientations and indicators of a community-oriented life?
3. which individual and social conditions influence this
relationship?
4. which values and morality-changing interventions are
available and are these in the sense of community
psychology?
The answers to the empirical questions will be based as far as
possible on meta-analytical findings, systematic reviews or largescale
studies.
The overarching thesis is that the answers to these questions
depend on contextual influences and that the mere existence or
promotion of values and moral orientations is not sufficient.
