The shortage of successors has become a significant issue for small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Japan. One reason for this is that
the number of family successions has been decreasing due to the
declining birthrate and the diversification of work styles. If the current
situation persists, employment and GDP may face a severe decline
because of the growing number of SMEs going out of business.
Therefore, the aim of this presentation is to share the findings of a study
focusing on Japanese SMEs, which examined the daily stress and work
engagement levels of their employees and business owners, and to
discuss potential solutions for improving the situation.
