AUTHORS:

Abstract text:
The transition from undergraduate to graduate studies in psychology presents
unique challenges and opportunities for early career psychologists. In Canada,
competitive admissions, financial constraints, and insufficient mentorship
collectively create barriers for many students. This presentation will examine
the realities of moving from an undergraduate degree to graduate-level
psychology and will explore whether pursuing graduate studies is always the
best option. It will also highlight pathways for professional development,
emphasize the importance of mentorship, and discuss strategies for career
advancement. Additionally, I will illustrate how my involvement in professional
organizations, such as the IAAP, has helped me cultivate leadership skills and
build global connections that foster early career growth.
