Abstract text:
This presentation will describe applied psychology's role in the Science of Sustainability whose aim is to preserve the planet and to assure the health and well-being of human beings . The presenter will describe her work in developing a new research and intervention area within the domain of Sustainability Science ,the Psychology of Sustainability and Sustainable Development (PSSD).
At the core of the PSSD is to study in depth internal psychological processes involved in decision-making and behaviors related to sustainability and sustainable development within individual(s), within environment(s), between/among individuals, between/among environments, between/among individuals and environments, and between/among living beings and the natural world/universe, ranging from the past to the present, and into the future .The PSSD also focused on promoting the environment, economy and equity and avoiding exploiting, depleting, and altering through seeking opportunities, challenges and new solutions.

The aim of the PSSD is to contribute to establishing a culture of sustainability and sustainable development according to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the UN's Agenda 2030 using psychological lens. They developed the Sustainable Development Goals Psychological Inventory to explore critical dimensions that could promote the realization of the 17 SDGs. .contribute to the preservation of the environment promoting sustainable practices for the benefit of future generations. The inventory can monitor the effects of implementing the 17 SDGs on the environment, climate change, decent work, sustainable livelihoods ,physical and mental , work opportunities and the process of bringing about change. This monitoring will contribute to the development of the culture of sustainability.
