Abstract text:
Literature on trauma interventions provides several evidence-based approaches such as CPT, PE, ACT, NET, EMDR, DBT-PE, DBT PTSD, and many more. Those interventions are typically developed and tested in the Western context and later adopted into other contexts. Less is known, however, about the impact of those approaches, their cultural adaptations, and the presence of contextually relevant alternatives in trauma treatments, particularly in the context of incessant chronic and acute traumas combined with intergenerational trauma over decades. This presentation will draw upon the existing literature on the topic along with the clinical expertise and observations of clinicians providing trauma and trauma-informed treatment in Lebanon during the past couple of decades, posing important questions to consider in research and clinical settings.
