EFPSA's four-decade history demonstrates that student-led initiatives can be a transformative force for both psychology education and societal change. One of the key lessons is that when students are empowered with structure, resources, and mentorship, they can simultaneously develop professionally and generate measurable social impact.
EFPSA fosters learning, collaboration, and leadership through a series of in-person and hybrid events, including the EFPSA Conference (biennial, 100-200 participants), the EFPSA Congress (annual; 2026 will mark the 40th edition with 400 participants), the Train the Trainers Summer School, the Research Summer School, and the Joint Executive Board & Member Representative Meeting. These gatherings provide hands-on opportunities for skill-building, networking, and cross-cultural exchange, complementing student-led projects across Europe.
Looking forward, EFPSA aims to shape the next generation of psychologists who are not only academically competent but socially responsible and globally engaged. Future plans include expanding advocacy for mental health and psychological literacy, strengthening partnerships with professional and academic organisations, and aligning student initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals - particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By leveraging its network, events, and educational programmes, EFPSA empowers young psychologists to act as change agents, demonstrating how student-driven initiatives can advance both the discipline of psychology and meaningful societal transformation across Europe and beyond.
