Abstract text:
As a complex phenomenon of global interest, suicide has been monitored closely by the scientific community and policy makers alike. Different organisations and governments have taken steps to address this, with one such initiative being SII's (A)live! campaign. The campaign, inspired by a Slovenian project ('A se štekaš?!?'), aims to provide a common foundational framework for psychology student associations across Europe concerning suicide prevention. The campaign's general goal is to extrapolate a general infrastructure from existing successful initiatives to help perpetuate suicide prevention education at an international level. This is achieved by engaging with high school students and gatekeepers on the topic, drawing on EFPSA's wide range of resources (e.g., materials, trainers). This campaign also aims to provide indirect support, by making use of social media networks or by centralising information pertaining to suicide prevention in European countries. The (A)live! campaign will provide invaluable cross-cultural data for research into suicide within youth cohorts, thus aiding in the exploration of relatively uncharted territory when it comes to global mental health.
