The European Federation of Psychology Students' Associations (EFPSA) is a student-led, non-profit organization established in 1987, at the first International Congress of Psychology Students in Portugal. Since then, the Federation has evolved and currently comprises 30 Member Organisations, collectively representing thousands of psychology students across Europe.
EFPSA's structure is designed to ensure democratic governance, effective and sustainable implementation of projects and events that create opportunities for psychology students. Each new mandate begins with the EFPSA Congress, held annually around April. The Board oversees the strategic development of the Federation. The Working Community consists of the Executive Board - Office members who actively work throughout the mandate by providing external, internal, academic chances to students, and Member Representative - members who represent their respective national organization. Both the Executive Boards and Member Representatives hold voting rights, with the General Assembly serving as the highest decision-making body. This framework allows students to gain first-hand experience in organizational work, develop skills relevant to their future roles as mental health professionals and engage in cross-cultural collaboration.
The Federation pursues four main goals: (1) to serve psychology students, (2) to contribute to society, (3) to improve psychology, (4) to link professionals, academics and students. Through these aims, EFPSA not only supports the development of psychology students but also strengthens the role of psychology in Europe.
