Dr. Vicente Martínez-Tur will highlight the collaboration between the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) Division 1 and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He will share how the two organizations support each other, particularly through their respective congresses, to strengthen the connection between work and organizational psychology and the global development agenda.
As a key example, Dr. Martínez-Tur will present IAAP's "This Works in My Place!" initiative, which collected regionally grounded strategies from Latin American and African experts on addressing SDGs such as no poverty SDG 1, good health and well-being SDG 3, gender equality SDG 5, decent work SDG 8, and innovation SDG 9. This project, also featured at SIOP, illustrates the importance of context-sensitive approaches in promoting sustainable and inclusive development.
The presentation will emphasize how collaboration between professional societies enhances global impact and supports the integration of psychological science into efforts to achieve the SDGs.
