SIOP-UN committee member, based on her research in decent work and well-being, Dr. Mahima Saxena, will discuss how decent work policy mandates can benefit from grassroots research based on the lived experiences of those in non-traditional work and occupations. Dr. Saxena will discuss how policies that center the experiences of those they hope to support, can be more effective for local communities and the SDGs. Grounding the presentation in research that began with SIOP's very first grant for humanitarian work psychology a decade ago, the critical role of research in capturing lived experiences and worker realities will be examined. General recommendations from this research stream and ways forward will be discussed to ultimately promote inclusive sustainable development centered on decent work and wellbeing that leaves no one behind.
