The SIOP-UN team works across two broad areas: working with SIOP members to promote an understanding of (and engagement with) the work of the United Nations, and collaborating on projects with various UN departments to raise awareness of the tools available through work and organisational psychology. Strengthening both aspects of this work means collaborating with other professional associations. IAAP, SIOP and EAWOP work together closely on a range of topics (e.g.,through The Alliance for Organisational Psychology) and work together on promoting one another's work. Advancing Decent Work is a key workstream within the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology's impact incubator (EAWOP-ii). Established in 2020, EAWOP-ii is designed to engage, inform, and influence policymakers and policymaking across Europe through sharing evidence and insights that are generated from Work and Organisational psychology research and practice. This commitment to translating psychological research for policymakers has forged partnerships such as with City of Edinburgh Council, and Living Wage Scotland. Through this work EAWOP-ii has created numerous research-based animations, briefing papers, and a serious game, on the topic of decent work. We have also hosted events with policymakers and had the opportunity to present this work at the International Labour Organisation in Geneva. This presentation will share how the SIOP-UN team and EAWOP-ii have collaborated on this work around decent work. I have been both the Decent Work lead for EAWOP-ii as well as a SIOP-UN committee member. I will provide an overview of the Decent Work stream at EAWOP-ii and share insights about how to communicate psychology research for policymaker audiences. I will also share lessons learned about engaging with policymakers and offer ideas for how to enhance collaboration between professional associations.
