This presentation introduces empirical methodologies for assessing how environments affect human perception, awareness, and wellbeing. Drawing on the collaboration with the University of Perugia's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, it highlights approaches such as environmental mapping, psychophysical assessment, and participatory evaluation. The Lizori case provides a practical context for applying these tools, enabling measurable insights into the human-environment nexus. The contribution demonstrates the importance of evidence-based strategies in guiding sustainable regeneration projects. By combining scientific rigor with applied contexts, this presentation underlines how empirical research can inform policy, design, and community development aimed at fostering healthier relationships between people and their environments.
