Abstract text:
Countries are affected in different ways by the social and ecological crises often summarized by the term 'Anthropocene', and governments develop actions of varying efficiency to help people cope with them. The philosophical concept of Forms of Active Life (Arendt, 1958; Cohen-Scali et al., 2025 ; Guichard, 2024) allows to understand how individuals and groups produce global, individual and collective strategies to construct their lives in difficult contexts. In order to catch these attitudes, strategies, lifestyles, 10 French students have been interviewed. Consensual Qualitative Research has been implemented in order to identify themes and code them. The results show many common perceptions of the ecological crises and also differences concerning actions and life styles implemented. We have developed a typology with 4 types based on their attitudes, strategies, lifestyles and perception of the future. Two appear as forms of active life. Two others reveal strong tensions and despair generated by the current situation among some students. The discussion will aim to put into perspective the results of the other presentations on other countries in relation to the concept of active forms of life.
