Abstract text:
In this presentation, an overview of modern psychology education in Japan will be provided. The presentation will briefly describe the structure of the standard psychology education in Japan and will then address issues that are debated among Japanese psychology educators. The presentation will include 1) a history of psychology education, 2) today's typical curriculum of undergraduate psychology education, 3) psychology-related professions and qualifications in Japan focusing on the three main certifications for professional psychologists, Mental Health Social Worker, operated by the Japanese Association of Mental Health Social Workers, Clinical Psychologist by Foundation of the Japanese Certification Board for Clinical Psychologists, and Authorized Psychologist, operated mainly by the Japanese Psychological Association.
