Abstract text:
This panel discussion explores the integration of ISO 45003, the first global standard focused on managing psychosocial risks in the workplace within the field of industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. With increasing recognition of the impact of job demands, stressors, and organizational climate on employee wellbeing, this session will examine how ISO 45003 can serve as both a framework and a catalyst for advancing psychological health and safety at work.

Panelists will critically assess the standard through an I-O lens, discussing how it intersects with existing theories and practices related to job design, psychosocial work environment, psychological safety, and occupational health and from a diversity perspective. The discussion will highlight areas where I-O psychology offers evidence-based tools and strategies to support implementation, as well as where gaps exist, particularly around operationalizing concepts like psychological safety, addressing chronic job demands, and measuring psychosocial risks.
The session will also draw on insights from interdisciplinary research, including occupational health psychology, organizational behavior, public health, and human resource management, to enrich the dialogue. Real-world case studies and ongoing research projects will be used to illustrate the challenges and opportunities of applying ISO 45003 in diverse organizational contexts.
