Abstract text:
Multi-Element Behavior Support (MEBS) provides a comprehensive and compassionate approach to supporting individuals with complex behavioral needs. More than a clinical methodology, MEBS serves as an organizational framework grounded in non-linear applied behavior analysis and humanism. It integrates proactive and respectful strategies—ecological adjustments, skills teaching, preventative strategies, and non-aversive reactive techniques—to ensure individuals are supported in pursuing meaningful, connected lives.

This presentation explores MEBS as both a clinical and systemic model for promoting dignity, safety, autonomy, and personal growth. Drawing from real-world case studies and cross-sector implementations, we will examine how MEBS fosters inclusion, reduces restrictive practices, and enhances quality of life across disability, education, and health settings.

We will also discuss how leadership can embed MEBS into organizational culture through values-based supervision, workforce development, and continuous quality improvement. Participants will leave with practical tools for aligning organizational systems with MEBS principles, supporting staff competency, and advancing person-centered outcomes.

Ultimately, MEBS is not simply a tool for behavior support—it is a framework for creating the conditions and supports necessary for a life well lived.
