Ontopsychology, developed by Antonio Meneghetti (1936-2013), seeks to restore the psychotherapeutic dialogue using the reading criterion of personal identity—the client's ontic In-itself—aiming for personal authentication. Ontopsychological psychotherapy differs by not focusing on the sphere of action around the symptom but rather by projecting toward the subject's realization, based on the verification of personal identity in an ontological sense. In this way, psychotherapy develops the client's quantum of intelligence, which exists as a potential for realization. To support this application, Meneghetti drew on Aristotelian metaphysics, understanding that historical action, or what he called historical autoctises, is the condition for being to move from potentiality to act. The goal is for the subject, through psychotherapeutic dialogue, to perform a critical review of their own consciousness, which is often shaped by family and social structures. Thus, the accuracy of consciousness allows the client to align their thinking with their being and to take actions that are consistent with their identity. Ontopsychological psychotherapy is based on the connection between Ontology, Psychology, and Phenomenology, positioning itself as an efficient alternative to the challenges of counseling and clinical psychology.
