Abstract text:
This paper introduces a novel psychological construct titled "Mirror of Great Time", a self-reflective temporal perspective technique developed to mitigate emotional exhaustion, existential anxiety, and cognitive distortion under stress. The theory proposes that individuals can achieve emotional equilibrium by cognitively projecting themselves several centuries into the future and observing their present life as part of a distant historical continuum. This temporal displacement restructures personal suffering, reframes loss, and enhances existential meaning through the perception of one's life as an element of long-term historical evolution.
Unlike conventional mindfulness or stoic reframing techniques, Mirror of Great Time emphasizes temporal transcendence rather than immediate awareness or rational detachment. Preliminary qualitative observations indicate that this method fosters a profound sense of perspective, humility, and resilience, often resulting in decreased rumination and enhanced self-coherence. Conceptually, it integrates principles from time perception theory, existential psychology, and cognitive narrative reconstruction.
This study outlines the theoretical foundations, proposed cognitive mechanisms, and potential applications in stress management, psychotherapy, and leadership resilience training. It concludes with a call for empirical investigation to quantify the technique's effects on emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, and long-term well-being.
