Abstract text:
This study investigates perceptions of mental health and coping mechanisms, and how support is sought and attitudes toward mental health support among young adults. A survey of 102 participants revealed a disparity between perceived health and internal emotional well-being, and also how little support is effectively provided among young adults despite access to mental health information. While most respondents rated their health positively, high levels of stress and emotional fatigue were also reported. The study found multiple topics which were implicated in the overall mental health, including academic/work pressures, social media influences, and coping behaviours. The conclusion was the need for accessible, stigma-free mental health resources and suggested that educational and community interventions could support a shift toward emotional resilience and better coping strategies.
