Introduction.
The development of the metaverse an interconnected, immersive virtual environment combining digital and physical realities—has transformed the landscape of educational innovation. By enabling interactive, multisensory learning experiences, the metaverse holds the potential to accommodate diverse learning styles and enhance student engagement. However, understanding the psychological, demographic, and cognitive factors that influence its adoption remains crucial to optimizing its educational impact.
Purpose.
This study aimed to develop a predictive model assessing both the readiness and potential adoption rates of metaverse-based learning environments. It further sought to identify the key individual and contextual factors—such as learning styles, personality traits, and sociodemographic variables—that contribute to effective engagement and improved learning outcomes within virtual education systems.
Method.
A quantitative research design was employed. Descriptive statistics, correlational analyses, and multiple regression models were conducted to determine predictive relationships among variables. Additionally, a cluster analysis was applied to identify distinct learner profiles within the dataset.
Results.
Findings revealed that younger participants and individuals with higher levels of educational attainment displayed stronger interest in learning through digital and metaverse environments. These subjects were typically frequent users of social media and video games and exhibited non-verbal visual and kinesthetic learning styles. According to the Tellegen Absorption Scale, higher levels of absorption and openness to experience were associated with greater engagement and adaptability to immersive virtual contexts. Personality traits such as openness, energy, and agreeableness were positively correlated with metaverse learning readiness.
Conclusions.
The study highlights that age, learning style, and personality significantly influence the adoption and effectiveness of metaverse-based education. By integrating these insights, educators can design more inclusive, personalized, and engaging virtual learning environments that leverage the full educational potential of the metaverse. Future research should explore pedagogical strategies that integrate adaptive metaverse features to support personalized and inclusive learning experiences.
