Abstract text:
Introduction. The unprecedented spread of information technologies (IT) into various spheres of human life has led to the emergence of many specialists who work online. Therefore, the current task of applied psychology is to study the impact of IT on the development of cognitive processes and behavior of advanced IT-users.
Purpose. To highlight the dynamics of Ukrainian IT-users' attitudes towards the advantages and disadvantages of working online.
Methods. The questionnaire "Advantages and disadvantages of using IT in the educational process" developed by author was used.
Results. The dynamics of the attitudes of technical university teachers and graduate students as advanced IT-users to advantages and disadvantages of working online are presented. It is shown that during period from 2013 to 2017 the users' euphoria of owning computers or having unlimited access to IT began to gradually decline due to understanding that not all desired tasks can be quickly solved with their help. Many users have experienced the harmful effects of online work on human health. Over the next four years (2018-2021), a large number of people with moderate or no experience using IT began working online due to COVID-19. Thanks to the opportunity to work and study remotely, the number of advantages mentioned by respondents has increased significantly. Under war conditions in Ukraine (2022-2025), the number of advantages of working online mentioned by respondents remains at the same high level, but the number of disadvantages has increased significantly: in addition to the harmful effects on human health, technical factors such as lack of or limited access to the network, lack of equipment, and power outages have been added.
Conclusions. Despite constant improvement of IT, the number of problems regarding its negative impact on human physical and mental health will not decrease, and the psychology of IT-users should study these problems.
