Abstract text:
LGBTQ+ is the most trending term when it comes to gender studies. Not only because it seems all covered in rainbows and it comes out as something weird. Rather because of the issues faced by them. The major reason behind these issues is them not falling into the set binary gender norms. The LGBTQ+ is an umbrella term used for different types of gender identity and sexual orientation. The main inspiration behind using LGBTQ+ for this study was to clear the misconceptions about the LGBTQ+ community. Also to shed some light on the issues faced by them which result in mental health disparities. With the aim of enhancing the wellbeing and lowering the minority stress of the LGBTQ+ community, this study proposed a new community based on each intervention for the LGBTQ+ community and that is Psychoeducation with artistic medium. The psychoeducation intervention was given to 100 participants through art. The tests used for the study were Warwick- Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS) and Gender Minority Stress and Resilience Measure (GMSR). These tests were used to collect the data pre and post intervention. Analysis tools like descriptive statistics, paired t-test and ANOVA were used in this study. The result of the study recommends Psychoeducation with artistic mediums like art for future use. Which not only is useful but sustainable as well, as the intervention can be reused for every kind of population for improving the wellbeing. The implication of the findings can be further extended to spread the awareness about the gender equality. As having the information about any new concept can play a major role in being aware about the same.
