The move toward electric trucks is becoming increasingly important for sustainable transport. However, the psychological and organizational factors influencing adoption are still not well understood, especially within Nordic freight operations. This study examines behavioral aspects that may affect how Norwegian freight companies decide to adopt electric trucks. The research is based on a framework inspired by the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT).
A survey was designed to gather views on practical benefits, regulatory conditions, and environmental concerns. It was distributed among freight companies across Norway. The initial analysis focused on identifying general trends.
Preliminary responses suggest that several factors may shape the decision to adopt electric trucks, such as how useful they seem, how ready the infrastructure is, and how well the change fits with safety and environmental goals. Early findings show that the decision-making process is influenced by many different aspects. The results of the study indicate that performance expectancy is among the most important factors in adoption. These insights may help guide strategies that support the use of electric trucks and promote sustainability, and will be subject to discussion.
