Abstract text:
In an era defined by super-intelligence and rapid societal transformation, the development of college students' competencies has become a crucial issue for higher education. This study investigates the evaluation and developmental pathways of core leadership among new-generation college students, with the aim of addressing emerging challenges and fostering adaptive leadership capacities. Over the past several years, a series of interrelated research projects have been conducted in Taiwan. First, the Scale of Youth Core Leadership Competency was developed to provide a reliable and valid assessment framework tailored to college students. Building on this foundation, individualized psychological coaching interventions were introduced, focusing on enhancing self-awareness, decision-making, and changing with personal goal. Furthermore, group psychological coaching models were designed and implemented, emphasizing collaborative problem-solving, interpersonal influence, and the support the cultivation of personal transformation. To extend the impact of these initiatives, cross-institutional camp activity which group relation conference (GRC) base on the approach of Bionian and A. K. Rice were organized and conducted, for enabling students to engage in shared learning, peer dialogue, and reflected on leadership practice within diverse group contexts.
Findings from the series studies highlight the dynamic nature of leadership as a developmental competency rather than a fixed trait. The integrated model proposed in this research suggests that effective leadership development for college students requires a multi-layered approach—combining systematic assessment, personalized coaching, and experiential group learning. This model not only enhances students' leadership readiness but also strengthens their adaptability to future societal and professional demands. The series explorations contributes both theoretical and practical insights into higher education reform, offering a framework for cultivating the next generation of leaders equipped to navigate complexity and drive their core leadership competencies change.
