Abstract text:
China's school mental health education has undergone significant development over the past 40 years and has achieved notable results. In 2025, we conducted a survey and interview with 1,528 psychological teacher to identify challenges impacting further development in student mental health education. These challenges primarily revolve around improving the aspects of standardization , professionalism , expertise , and collaboration . Specific issues include:
Psychological teacher' qualifications and professional development;
Curriculum design and instructional arrangement for mental health education courses;
Conditions and requirements for psychological counseling activities ;
Mechanisms and responsibilities of collation between schools, families, and medical institutions "teach cooperatives".
These challenges highlight the urgent need to establish "legislative on promoting mental health education in schools")to resolve them. The bill aims to:
Enhance student mental health levels through scientific and standardized requirements, thereby preventing psychological disorders;
Prevent psychological crisis events by implementing professional and collaborative requirements for psychological crises prevention and intervention.
The key considerations within the legislative framework include:
Establish clear principles and requirements for mental health education;
Define the responsibilities of psychological educators;
Clarify mechanisms and responsibilities of collation between schools, families, and medical institutions;
Ensure funding guarantees and infrastructure support for school-based mental health education programs.
