Suicide is considered a silent epidemic globally. Suicidal ideation, a marked thought of harming self, if identified, helps reduce the grave outcome of suicide. Madhya Pradesh ranks third in terms of student suicide rates (PTI, 2024) The study aimed to uncover and understand the unique psychosocial experiences of career aspirants in Madhya Pradesh, India and identify the risks and protective factors of suicidal ideation amongst them. The study adopted a qualitative research design (Creswell, 2012). Criterion based purposive sampling technique was employed wherein 150 Youths aged 21-35 years were selected based on a) Native of Madhya Pradesh and are currently residing in Madhya Pradesh b) Those aiming to gain employment through these exams while excluding those preparing for higher education. They were then screened for suicidal ideation. Semi structured interviews were then conducted with 9 participants selected based on a) they displayed suicidal ideation in screening (score of 17 and above mild to high) b) They accepted experiencing suicidal ideations and c) they were willing to share their experiences. The data were analysed through thematic analysis. The resultant themes elicited the dual and dynamic nature of Personality, Psychological, Social, Career, and Lifestyle factors functioning as risk and protective factors based on their exhibition in an individual. The findings of this study are presented in the case formulation of a biopsychosocial model that can be used to develop diagnostic and tailored treatment plans for career aspirants with suicidal ideations. These findings can contribute to crisis intervention, as the study directly addresses the Sustainable Developmental Goals of 3 & 4: good health and well-being and quality education, respectively, thus contributing to a healthier and more sustainable society envisioned by the SDGs.
