In these first decades of the 21st century, interest in the topic of human well-being, as a complex and multidimensional construct, has grown exponentially both in terms of scientific interest and professional psychological practices. Psychological well-being has a significant impact on quality of life and its most important domains. In this scenario, the PRIN project to be presented was carried out in collaboration between three Italian universities (Cagliari, Enna, Sassari) and aimed to: 1) conduct a systematic review of the literature on training for the promotion of subjective well-being in school, university, and workplace, which included 32 studies published between 2009 and 2024. The review confirmed the relevance of structured, evidence-based interventions to promote well-being across different contexts, emphasising the importance of considering individual and environmental factors to maximise their effectiveness; 2) developing and testing of training programmes aimed at improving relevant well-being dimensions highlighted by the first Italian validation study (Scalas et al., 2023a, 2023b) of the Well-being Profile scale (WB-Pro Marsh et al., 2020): optimism, competence, self-esteem, engagement, meaning, positive emotions. The experimentation took place in three different domains of people's lives (school, university, workplace), with the participation of around 300 people: 100 high-school students, 100 university students, and 100 workers. The programme, divided into six sessions, included a pre-post assessment to verify the effectiveness of the intervention through the administration of the WB-Pro scale.
This contribution will present the main phases of the research programme, the techniques and tools used, and the results obtained in terms of enhancing the dimensions of well-being promoted in the training.
