SESSION: How to optimise treatment of deep venous system
22/09/2022 10:30 - 13:00
HALL: WS7

Academy Lead: Zielinski A.

Lead convenor: Black S.

Co-convenor: Dumantepe M., Jalaie H.

During this 2-hour workshop, participants will discuss with the convenors various factors influencing the outcomes of a deep venous stenting procedure. The second part of the workshop will be dedicated to the management of acute venous thrombotic occlusions and the different options to treat those lesions including thrombectomy with the option to use local lytic agents or not and stenting. Aspects such as decision-making and planning, intra-operative imaging, stent-technologies and the procedural steps will be looked at. Hands-on training at the stations will be proceeded by the tutors' introduction, allowing to gain good insight into the best practice for restoring patency and stenting in the deep venous system

Learning Objectives:
1.   Describe the decision-making and planning-process for stenting in the deep venous system
2.   List the advantages of stenting vs. conventional/conservative treatment of deep venous pathologies
3.   Explain the advantages of using IVUS for a stent-implantation in the DVS
4.   List the procedural steps for performing stenting in the deep venous system
5.   Demonstrate the proper deployment of a stent for the deep venous system
6.   Explain difference between Pharma-mechanical Thrombectomy (PMT) and Mechanical thrombectomy (MT)
7.   Describe treatment options of the lesion: PMT, MT , venous stenting
