SESSION: Stats for surgeons
21/09/2022 16:30 - 18:30

HALL: WS5

This WS will be delivered by 2 eminent surgeons with a strong academic record and interest is statistics. We are very fortunate that Sergi Bellmunt and Francisco Álvarez Marcos have agreed deliver this educational event. They will cover what a Vascular Surgeon or Vascular Surgical trainee needs to know about statistics in the context of understanding published literature. The workshop consists of a lecture with plenty of time for questions and answers. The workshop is aimed at any clinician who sees vascular patients but is a highly recommended for all trainees sitting professional exams (eg FEBVS).

It is strongly recommended that you consider registering for all the workshops below. This is because the Clinical and Academic viva-voce stations are an integral and challenging part of the FEBVS exam. A good performance in all exam stations is essential to maximise your chances of passing. The workshops are tried and tested to improve attendees chances of success.

On completion of this workshop attendees will have a clear understanding of statistics and statistical analysis as commonly appears in scientific publications. Attendees will enhance their ability to critically appraise published literature and understand when published evidence should influence their practice (and when it shouldn't). They will certainly understand the general principles of the standard and level of knowledge needed to pass the FEBVS exam.
