Frederico Bastos Gonçalves was born in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2010 he concluded his training and became FEBVS. Since 2014 he is Auxiliary Professor at NOVA Medical School, in Lisbon. He has authored several original publications on vascular disease, and leads clinical research with focus on aortic pathology. He is actively involved in educational activities for Vascular Surgeons including within the ESVS Academy. He is associate editor of the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (EJVES) since 2022, member of the VASCUNET sub-committee since 2016 and ESVS Guideline Steering Committee member since 2019. He was secretary-general of the Portuguese Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery from 2017 to 2021 and is editor-in-chief of Angiologia e Cirurgia Vascular (ACV Journal).
