The paper presents a reflection on religious welfare activities in Italy, with a particular emphasis on the role of religious bodies in providing assistance to migrants. The study aims to elucidate how religious organizations respond to the urgent and increasingly diverse social needs - expressions of a pluralistic society - and how they operate within the context of the Italian legal framework related to the Third Sector, with the objective of fostering a culture of solidarity.
From this perspective, the essay also aims to present the specific case study of the Migrantes Foundation, established by the Italian Episcopal Conference, as a paradigmatic example of the Catholic Church's commitment to addressing the integration and welfare needs of migrants in Italy.
