Text:
Contemporary times are characterized by the return of religion to public spaces. A literature is developing around this fact that measures the impact of religion on the achievement of the goals set out in the UN 2030 Agenda. The paper aims to verify how the religious factor can contribute to the affirmation of national, supranational and international environmental protection policies and, consequently, to the definition of legal instruments aimed at guaranteeing the realization of this protection. Particularly, the paper will look at the internationally recognized right to land conservation of indigenous peoples whose religious beliefs focus on the sacredness and custodianship of the environment.
