Islamist social media content influences the radicalization of youth through targeted emotional arousal and the creation of clear enemy images. Platforms such as Instagram and TikTok play a crucial role by spreading visual propaganda and intensifying experiences of discrimination. These contents facilitate access to radicalized groups and foster identification with extremist ideologies. Through algorithm-driven content distribution and the ability to connect in closed groups, the formation of echo chambers is encouraged, further reinforcing radical beliefs. In my presentation, I will share preliminary research findings from my thesis and explore how these social networks are involved in complex radicalization processes.
