Text:
How do we deal with altars from other times? The study examines how we deal with medieval altars that originally marked places of honour and are now found in churches and museums. How do visitors to churches and museums deal with altars? Are there indications of the original sanctity of the thing or the thing's surroundings? Using selected examples, the study examines the behaviour of users in St Paul's Cathedral in Münster and the Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kultur Münster in the summer of 2024. The approach is ethnographic and theoretically presupposes a praxeological framework.
