Text:
Scholarly research on Renaissance Christian Hebraism has largely focused on the practices of exchanging letters in Hebrew and copying Hebrew books—whether for personal use or for didactical purposes with Christian students. By discussing new sources, this paper examines these kinds of practices within the context of the cultural networks of Sebastian Stamler, Conrad Pellikan, Paulus Ritius, Caspar Amman and Johann Böeschenstein. It aims to shed light on the richness of the Christian debate on Kabbalah and the Hebrew language during the early Renaissance, particularly in Tyrol and Bavaria.
