The doctoral school of the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE-PSL) currently hosts 271 PhD students specialising in Religious Studies. Based on institutional data from 2020 to 2025, this paper examines several key dimensions of their doctoral training: their research trajectories, their main thematic and methodological orientations, their funding structures, and their professional prospects. The aim is not only to describe the specificities of doctoral training in Religious Studies in a secular French institution - taking full account of its methodological and thematic diversity - but also to discuss the possible transformations of this model and its applicability beyond national borders, as well as its integration into the wider European research landscape.
